Transclick is a multilingual messaging and translation web services infrastructure company based in New York, London and Hong Kong.
Transclick develops and markets real-time wireless translation of messaging for distribution over mobile handsets and PDAs for e-mail, SMS, and instant messaging in 10 languages to and from English. You type English, they read Chinese, they type Chinese, you read English.
Robert E. Levin is CEO of Transclick, which is the leading mobile web services provider with real-time translation of email and SMS, voice recognition and speech generation options for voice portals. (You speak English, voice mail arrives in Spanish-you speak French, email arrives in English). Transclick developed front-end connectors to web-based collaboration tools that access Transclick’s server farms to create a scalable and modular real-time translation web service. Transclick is rolling out SMS, instant messaging and email language translation services over 3G and 2.5G mobile cell phones of over several wireless messaging carriers in 2006 and 2007.
Qualcomm has certified Transclick's applications for downloading over BREW-enabled Motorola handsets. Transclick is also launching J2ME and Symbian versions in the upcoming months.
Transclick won the Best New Technology Award 2003 from Government Computer News and the Design and Engineering Showcase 2003 from the Consumer Electronics Show.
Transclick also customizes dictionaries to increase accuracy for the health care, computer, education and industrial markets.
Transclick’s success factors include:
a. A large and growing demand for real-time translation of text messaging from one language to another
Large SMS and email traffic is starting to flow across geographic and language borders, creating a pent-up demand in Europe and Asia for a common SMS language—i.e. translation into English.
Transclick’s model is to go beyond the “get the gist” quality of free language translation engines available on the web and develop higher accuracy for real-time translation of SMS and email.
b. “best of breed” aggregation of the best language technology and terminology data bases
c. integration with existing messaging systems to add value and create premium services that meet customer demand at an affordable price, creating the potential for rapid uptake and additional revenue streams for mobile carriers.
